Naturally, Aiden is first on my list of people I need to shop for (He's also in the middle and at the end of my list!) and I'm ecstatic. The first book that Aiden recieved was a Dr. Suess book, The Lorax, so it was decided that a Dr. Suess collection would be started. I find this a fantastic idea, since Dr. Suess is a classic and I used to read his books when I was younger!
So having the apartment to myself one day, which I have to say, was bittersweet, I decided to go to King's Books and see what they had. Let me just note, that I absolutely love this bookshop! In any case, I automatically went straight to their children's books section, as if it was the only section they had there. I didn't hesitate for a second. As soon as I stepped in front of that ceiling-high bookshelf, my eyes caught their attention on what else, but a handful of Dr. Suess books. I knew that I wasn't leaving without most of the collection that they had and wouldn't you know it, I didn't. I think I only left 2 Suess books on the shelf and merely for the fact, I knew I already had those books at my parent's. Not only did I get a good start on Aiden's Dr. Suess collection, but his book collection in general. I found, what seems to be, an antique moving picture book of short stories (This was perfect timing, because he had just been introduced to a moving picture book of nursery rhymes.) and a book about Bob Marley, that consists of poems and pictures. I can certainly say that I was one happy customer after leaving the bookshop. However, I didn't expect anything less.
This is another one of my blogs that took my quite sometime to finish. There is a reason for everything though, right? Today, while cleaning myself and Aiden's room at my parent's, I found 26 books that my brother and I, both used to read, one book for each letter of the alphabet.
They are in great condition and I plan on giving them to Aiden. My parent's still have just about all the books my brother and I used to read when we were younger and I have yet to even gone through half of them! I can't wait to see what other books I find! Between what he's given, found and bought, he is already starting a rather eclectic compilation of books. I actually think I may be more thrilled about this than he is!
